Fresh food people? Who are they fooling?

Have you seen the Woolworths commercials about how fresh their food is? Have you been sucked in by the inferences that they use local produce always where possible.? Have you believed that Woolworths has your consumer needs at heart. I used to but over the last 7 years I have come to see the truth and I think SHAME ON THEM.

Buying local?

A few years ago I lived in Carnarvon WA, which is half way between Perth and Broome on the coast.. Carnarvon then was a market garden paradise. In Carnarvon they could grow almost every veggie and fruit, known to the average Australian. Bananas, mangos, star-fruit, oranges, tomato, brocolli etc etc. Now with all of this produce available within a 20 km radius you would think that Woolworths being 'Fresh food people' would source their produce from this plentious harvest. Well think again. I tell you it was like selling ice cubes to the eskimos, they would bring bananas in from Queensland, thousands of kilometers away and sell them to the locals and it was the same with the rest of the produce. I know this to be true for two reasons .....

Together we can make a difference - don't settle for sub-standard service. The more people you share this with the more chance we have of the big grocery retailers taking notice.

Awesome morning in the outback

Just got back from our camping trip to Gawler Ranges SA. Had to cut it short due to the weather. This was not all negative though as the weather front did give some moments for great photos but not too good for campfires. Here is one of my shots.

When the city forgets the bush

Due to the 101 comments from those who use this forum as a chat site i have reposted minus the foul language and rude comments.

Have you ever stopped to wonder about the ramifications of a city centric government. You know the kind that seek the votes in high density areas by providing money for entertainment etc at the expense of the infrastructure of the rural communities? I have. What with rising fuel costs, the coming carbon tax on fuel, the lack of transport infrastructure for rural communities. The need to travel further and further for health related issues as Hospital services are centralized etc etc have all combined in my mind to highlight a comming problem of just how farmers and rural producers can continue on in sustaining the city.

With more and more production going off shore and the higher cost of bringing the created items back to Australia I wonder just how the city life-style can be maintained.

What would happen if Farmers suddely got sick of being overlooked, sick of seeing the profits go to the middle man and the multi-nationals? Would city people cope if rural communities just focused on sustaining themsleves??

In the country we are far more able to produce enough food on our own land, or by bartering and swapping with near neighbours than city folk who insist on living on tiny blocks that cannot support enough room for a tree.

This is a blog not free chat site

How many bigpond blog makers are getting their blogs used as free chat site? How many of you are sick of the filthy language and lewd comments posted? They don't come to read our content. They are not interested in us they just use this forum as a free way to chat with their mobiles phones to others.

Lets not blame them cause it is Telstra who enables this to happen they provide the service and who can blame the young ones for not having enough money to make the proper calls. I wish the young ones would learn manners but then I wouldn't have to view it if Telstra policed it. We cannot write this filthy crap in our blogs so why does the system allow them to be able too.

I don't know about you but I have young kids who don't need to view this stuff. I think all blog users should use the complaint system and let Telstra know we are not happy with this sub service and that they should provide a different forum for these guys to have some free chat/text time. Then we all would be happy. I wonder how many names I will get called tonight by these free loaders.
